Project Description.
This is a project I did for a Visual Effects Module at University. The goal was to create a 3D model and animation and put it in the real world, looking as though it is realistic. I created a family of ducks, consisting of a mother and her three ducklings.

Below I shall show my development, and the breakdown for this animation.
Character Design.
When I was designing my ducks, I looked at a lot of inspiration from other sources. The first design was based on Portal and EVE from Wall-e. My ducks were designed to be new and clean, with a slick design and shape. I then moved on to old mechanical toys as inspiration, and created a wind up duck. This eventually led me to my final design, where I took the box shape of the toy design, and replaced the legs with tires and wheels. The colours were inspired by Duck Tales, and the ducklings are the colours of the three ducks, Louie, Huey and Dewey - green, red and blue.
Storyboards.
I created two rough storyboards for this, based on the different settings I wanted to place my ducks in. The first had a backdrop of a fountain, and the second being sculpted balls in the peace gardens of Sheffield City Centre. I decided to choose the second setting, as I could make the ducklings more playful by hiding behind the balls.
Breakdown and Final Shot.
Below is a video of my project. It contains the pre production work, as well as the final shot, and a breakdown of all the assets.
